The Caribbean Society of Endoscopic Surgeons (CaSES) is a non-profit organization that was established to bring together endoscopic surgeons from all over the Caribbean region to promote excellence in patient care and professional development. Our goal is to provide a platform for education, exchange of ideas, and collaboration among our members in order to advance the field of endoscopic surgery.

Who we are

CaSES was founded in 2013 by a group of dedicated endoscopic surgeons who recognized the need for a specialized society to promote and support the growing field of endoscopic surgery in the Caribbean. Since its inception, CaSES has grown rapidly, attracting a diverse group of endoscopic surgeons from countries across the region including Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, and many others. Our members come from a wide range of specialties, including general surgery, gastroenterology, and gynecology, to name a few.

Education and Training

CaSES is committed to improving the quality of patient care in the Caribbean region by promoting the highest standards of surgical excellence and patient safety. We achieve this through a variety of activities, including regular educational events, workshops, and symposiums. Our educational programs are designed to provide our members with the latest information and techniques in endoscopic surgery, enabling them to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field. Our workshops and symposiums are also opportunities for members to network with colleagues from around the region and exchange ideas and best practices.

Research and Development

In addition to our education programs, CaSES is also actively involved in research and development. Our members are at the forefront of endoscopic surgery research and are constantly working to advance the field through their research. We support this work by providing funding and resources for research projects, as well as by hosting annual research symposiums where our members can present their findings and receive feedback from their peers.

Community Outreach

Another important aspect of our work is our commitment to community outreach and education. We believe that it is important to raise awareness about the benefits of endoscopic surgery and to educate the public about the various procedures and treatments available. Our members regularly participate in community outreach events and health fairs, where they provide information and answer questions about endoscopic surgery.

Governance and Strategy

CaSES is governed by a Board of Directors, which is elected by our members. The Board is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Society and for setting its strategic direction. Our Board is composed of experienced and knowledgeable endoscopic surgeons from across the Caribbean region, and they are committed to advancing the field of endoscopic surgery and improving patient care.

Membership

Our members are the backbone of the CaSES, and we are proud to represent a diverse group of professionals who are dedicated to improving the field of endoscopic surgery. We encourage all endoscopic surgeons in the Caribbean region to become members of CaSES and to take advantage of the many opportunities for professional growth and development that we offer.

Summary

In conclusion, the Caribbean Society of Endoscopic Surgeons is dedicated to advancing the field of endoscopic surgery in the Caribbean region. We are committed to improving patient care and promoting excellence in surgical practice through education, research, and community outreach. If you are an endoscopic surgeon in the Caribbean region, we invite you to become a member of CaSES and join us in our mission to improve patient care and advance the field of endoscopic surgery.

Optimal Patient Care

Safety First

Everything we do has one central thought, the age old medical saying Primum non Nocere. This means that we are making sure that the environment around the patient is safe.

All surgery goes to protocol safety checkups

  • -before (screening by the department of anaesthesiology and if needed other specialties such as internal medicine and cardiology)
  • -during (the time out and sign out checklist procedures) and
  • -after surgery (protocolled postop and follow-up checks)

In and out

With modern minimal invasive techniques we continuously strive for minimal impact and minimal complication of our surgery.

In addition, postoperative modern fast-track protocols are applied to ensure speedy recovery. This leads to less time in the hospital and a better overall experience of the surgery.

Verifiable

Evidence based Medicine.

The CaSES believes in the principle of evidence-based medicine. We, therefore, have set up our digital data banking program that gives real-time feedback on all or surgery related information and surgical results.

TESTIMONIALS

CaSES has been a great at allowing Caribbean surgeons to share experiences and learn from each other and this has been especially beneficial for low resource smaller countries within the region.

Dr Charles Greenidge

I am happy to be a part of this prestigious group of surgeons who are always striving to provide the best care for their patients.

Dr Wesley Francis

To me, CaSES means advancement for Caribbean surgery so that even in a 'country' hospital like Percy Junor Hospital in Jamaica a patient may get appendectomy, hernia repair, colectomy, tubal ligation, cholecystectomy or even hysterectomy done laparoscopically. CaSES gives strength to surgeons in the Caribbean who want patients to have these options.

Dr. Carlos B. Wilson
